Why You Need To Fail

By Bo Sanchez

Last week, I had lunch with a friend I’ve known for the past thirteen years.

Let’s call him Patrick Passive.

Thirteen years ago, Patrick and I were in the same financial boat. We had very little money. We lived by the day. We had zero financial wisdom.

Today, thirteen years later, we’re poles apart.

I’ve moved on. I now have 16 income streams. I’m an entrepreneur, with interest in many small businesses. I bought foreclosed properties and rent out a few condos. I also invest in the Stock Market—both here and in the US—and other Mutual Funds.

In the meantime, Patrick has remained stuck. Over lunch, he told me that nothing has changed since the last time we met thirteen years ago. He said, “I’m still in debt, Bo. My income is still barely enough to get by. I still don’t have financial freedom.”
I felt the heaviness in his heart.

Patrick asked me, “Bo, what did you do that I didn’t do?”

“Just one thing, Pat. I failed and you didn’t.”

“Huh?” He looked at me like I was talking Martian.

I explained. “These past thirteen years, I’ve attended many seminars that were a total waste of time. I started 8 businesses where I lost a ton of money. I got into investments and got burned big time. I’ve succeeded more because I failed more.”

Patrick nodded. “In other words, you acted and I didn’t.”

I also discovered other obstacles in his thinking. I sensed that Patrick was comfortable with his poverty—because that was what he was familiar with. He was trapped in his fear. He saw himself as a poor person. He even felt that God wanted him to be poor.

I also met old habits that were sabotaging his prosperity. How he saved for his future (yes, he was saving, but in the wrong way). How he paid his debts. How he spent his money.

When we parted, I felt a greater passion to give my seminar again, How
To Be Truly Rich Seminar. I want more people to gain financial freedom.

I want more people to learn how to prosper.

May your dreams come true,
Bo Sanchez

Don't Get Caught With Google Adsense Click Fraud

Many web site owners are getting their Google Adsense account terminated when they have done nothing wrong to deserve the punishment. Considering the money that they are getting from Adsense, they would certainly want to get back into it.

Considering the money to be made with Adsense, it is no wonder that they would want to get back into it.

It is that same consideration why the Google Adsense click fraud is thought of and why many people are getting into it.

Click fraud is the act of clicking on ads for the purpose of costing the advertiser money. It is simply the same as paying out cash for false leads. Many people website owners are aware of this fraud and are sharing the same sentiment that this is the one big problem that Adsense is facing.

How do you prevent being involved in this fraud?

Majority of web hosts are offering access logs. Once this is offered to you, it is necessary that you hand it over to Google as well. This allows them to look for any suspicious activity on your site. Problems like this are very serious and giving it to them is saying that you would want to help them in any way you can in solving the problem.

It can also help if you have a click monitoring software. If you do not have one yet, you should try and get one. There is absolutely no major factor preventing you from having one because most of this software is free.

As usual, all the information you have received should be turned over to Google. This is showing Google that you too are fighting against click frauds and is in no way a part of it.

Study your server logs and watch for any activity that seems suspicious
. Report anything that you may find odd, may it big or small thing.

You may want to consider disabling ads for your own IP address and local geographic area. This will certainly prevent accidents and will not make Google mistake another user as you. You can do through a htaccess file. This will avoid Google mistaking as clicking on your own ads and be kicked out because of it.

Keep your Adsense off on pop ups and pop unders. Your ads should not be displayed on content sites that promote illegal activity or tampering of the legal rights of other people or business. Included in this are the content that is considered adult and gambling ones. If you think that you may be breaking this rule, immediately remove your content or Adsense from the web page.

Be truthful and confess up to Google about times when you might have clicked on your own as, whether accidentally or intentionally. Or the times when you have done something that is against the Terms of Service that they are implementing. Be honest about anything that you may have done that is wrong. Confessing is way better than Google learning about it eventually. It would mean eventual termination and no getting back what you have worked so hard for.

Do not tell your family or friends about Adsense on your website.
Chances are they may start clicking on them to help you make money without you knowing it. They may be doing more harm to you than help by trying it in the first place.

If ever someone you know chanced upon your Adsense, make sure they understand that they cannot click on your ads under any circumstances. It would be wise to brief them on important things about Adsense and what not to do with them.

Most pay per click networks have different measures in hand to protect website owners against click frauds. Other search engines can track more than 50 data points, IP address, browser’s information, user’s session info and pattern recognition. They also have “systems” available that detects fraud. Not to mention the specialized teams monitoring how things are going and helping advertisers stop click frauds.

Google offers suggestion on how to avoid click fraud. Using “negative keywords” can be used to keep your Adsense showing on products and services that are in no way related to yours. Adding tracking URLs to your links so you can track the traffic coming from Google.

Do not be caught in the Google click fraud. Be aware and be wary.

5 Ways To Improve Your Adsense Earnings

If webmasters want to monetize their websites, the great way to do it is through Adsense. There are lots of webmasters struggling hard to earn some good money a day through their sites. But then some of the “geniuses” of them are enjoying hundreds of dollars a day from Adsense ads on their websites. What makes these webmasters different from the other kind is that they are different and they think out of the box.

The ones who have been there and done it have quite some useful tips to help those who would want to venture into this field. Some of these tips have boosted quite a lot of earnings in the past and is continuously doing so.

Here are some 5 proven ways on how best to improve your Adsense earnings.

1. Concentrating on one format of Adsense ad.

The one format that worked well for the majority is the Large Rectangle (336X280). This same format have the tendency to result in higher CTR, or the click-through rates. Why choose this format out of the many you can use? Basically because the ads will look like normal web links, and people, being used to clicking on them, click these types of links. They may or may not know they are clicking on your Adsense but as long as there are clicks, then it will all be for your advantage.

2. Create a custom palette for your ads.

Choose a color that will go well with the background of your site. If your site has a white background, try to use white as the color of your ad border and background. The idea to patterning the colors is to make the Adsense look like it is part of the web pages. Again, This will result to more clicks from people visiting your site.

3. Remove the Adsense from the bottom pages of your site and put them at the top.

Do not try to hide your Adsense. Put them in the place where people can see them quickly. You will be amazed how the difference between Adsense locations can make when you see your earnings.

4. Maintain links to relevant websites.

If you think some sites are better off than the others, put your ads there and try to maintaining and managing them. If there is already lots of Adsense put into that certain site, put yours on top of all of them. That way visitor will see your ads first upon browsing into that site.

5. Try to automate the insertion of your Adsense code into the webpages using SSI (or server side included).

Ask your web administrator if your server supports SSI or not. How do you do it? Just save your Adsense code in a text file, save it as “adsense text”, and upload it to the root directory of the web server. Then using SSI, call the code on other pages. This tip is a time saver especially for those who are using automatic page generators to generate pages on their website.

These are some of the tips that have worked well for some who want to generate hundreds and even thousands on their websites.  It is important to know though that ads are displayed because it fits the interest of the people viewing them. So focusing on a specific topic should be your primary purpose because the displays will be especially targeted on a topic that persons will be viewing already.

Note also that there are many other Adsense sharing the same topic as you. It is best to think of making a good ad that will be somewhat different and unique than the ones already done. Every clickthrough that visitors make is a point for you so make every click count by making your Adsense something that people will definitely click on.

Tips given by those who have boosted their earnings are just guidelines they want to share with others. If they have somehow worked wonders to some, maybe it can work wonders for you too. Try them out into your ads and see the result it will bring.

If others have done it, there is nothing wrong trying it out for yourself.

3 Reasons Why Adsense Is Essential For Content Sites

To know why Adsense is essential for your content sites is to know first how this works.

The concept is really simple, if you think about it. The publisher or the webmaster inserts a java script into a certain website. Each time the page is accessed, the java script will pull advertisements from the Adsense program. The ads that are targeted should therefore be related to the content that is contained on the web page serving the ad. If a visitor clicks on an advertisement, the webmaster serving the ad earns a portion of the money that the advertiser is paying the search engine for the click.

The search engine is the one handling all the tracking and payments, providing an easy way for webmasters to display content-sensitive and targeted ads without having the hassle to solicit advertisers, collect funds, monitor the clicks and statistics which could be a time-consuming task in itself. It seems that there is never a shortage of advertisers in the program from which the search engine pulls the Adsense ads. Also webmasters are less concerned by the lack of information search engines are providing and are more focused in making cash from these search engines.

The first reason why Adsense is essential for content sites is because it already has come a long way in understanding the needs of publishers and webmasters.

Together with its continuous progression is the appearance of more advanced system that allows full ad customization. Webmasters are given the chance to choose from many different types of text ad formats to better complement their website and fit their webpage layout.

The different formatting enables the site owners the possibility of more click through from visitors who may or may not be aware of what they are clicking on. It can also appeal to the people visiting thus make them take that next step of looking up what it is all about. This way the people behind the Adsense will get their content read and making profit in the process.

The second reason is the ability of the Adsense publishers to track not only how their sites are progressing but also the earnings based on the webmaster-defined channels
.

The recent improvements in the search engines gives webmasters the capability to monitor how their ads are performing using customizable reports that has the capacity to detail page impressions, clicks and click-through rates. Webmasters and publishers can now track specific ad formats, colors and pages within a website. Trends are also easily spotted.

With the real-time reporting at hand, the effectiveness of the changes made will be assessed quickly. There would be time to sort out the contents that people are making the most clicks on. The ever-changing demands would be met while generating cash for the webmasters and publishers. The more flexible tools are also allowing webmasters to group web pages by URL, domain, ad type or category, which will provide them some accurate insight on which pages, ads and domains are performing best.

The last and final reason is that the advertisers have realized the benefits associated having their ads served on targeted websites.

Thus increasing the possibility that a prospective web surfer will have an interest in their product and services. All because of the content and its constant maintenance. As opposed to those who are no using Adsense in their sites, they are given the option of having other people do their content for them, giving them the benefit of having successful and money-generating web sites.

Adsense is all about targeted content, the more targeted your content is, the more target the search engines’ ads will be. There are some web masters and publishers who are focused more on their site contents and how best to maintain them rather than the cash that the ads will generate for them. This is the part where the effectiveness is working its best.

There was a time when people were not yet aware of the money to be achieved from advertisements. The cash generated only came into existence when the webmasters and publishers realized how they can make Adsense be that generator. In those days, the content were the most important factors that is taken quite seriously. It still is. With the allure of money, of course.

Using Your Mailing List As A Test Market

Your mailing list is a great way to promote your products and stay in touch with your customers. You may not realize it, but it also serves another purpose. You can use your mailing list as a test market for new products and services you may be thinking about offering.

A test market is a limited group of people you offer a product to in order to receive feed back before you put the product up for sale to the general population. Using a test market will allow you to get feedback on your product. Your test market may suggest adding a feature you hadn’t thought of or offer other advice which will be helpful in fine tuning your product.

Your mailing list is a natural choice for a test market, as they have already expressed interest in the type of products you offer. For example, if you have sold an information product on starting a home based business before, perhaps you can use your mailing list of people who have bought that product as a test market for an information product on marketing techniques. You already know they are interested in starting a business; therefore, they would probably appreciate learning how to market their new business.

You can choose to offer your test products at a normal rate, a reduced rate, or even for free. Let them know that you are still working out the “bugs” and that the product you are offering may be different from the finished product you are going to sell to the general public. Letting them know this in advance can ward off any ill feelings; if one of the people on your mailing list buys a test product and later sees a similar product with slightly different features for sale, they may feel they got ripped off.

If you are going to offer the product at a reduced rate or give it away for free, let them know you would appreciate their feedback in exchange. Have a form set up online where the customer can fill out their opinions and advice. Ask them to leave a recommendation that you can use on the landing page once the product is finished.

You can also use your mailing list to get feedback when you are in the development stages of creating an information product. For instance, you can send out an email with a link to a questionnaire form and ask them to fill it out. If you know the general topic you would like to create a product on, you can ask your test market what are their three biggest questions about that topic. If you end up receiving a bunch of questions in the same general areas, you know that is the area of content you would like to focus your product on.

If you have a service based business, you can still use your mailing list as a test market. You can ask what type of services they would like to have. If you offer tangible products, you can ask your test market what type of new products they would like to see you carry and which features can be improved upon in your current inventory.

Why You Need A Mailing List?

A mailing list is a list of people who signed up to receive your mailings, such as newsletters, ecourses, ebooks, and other emails. There are many benefits to having a huge mailing list. Here are a few reasons why you will want to start building one today.

There is an old saying that says, “The money is in the follow up”, and that holds true for your list. Your mailing list provides you a way of staying in touch with people who have visited your website. Maybe they didn’t buy anything the first time they visited your site. However, if you stay in touch with them on a regular basis, they may turn into a loyal customer.

There are several types of mailing list formats to choose from. You may want to include each kind on your website. You can offer a general newsletter that people can subscribe to. This is a great way to keep people informed on the updates you have made to your site. You can include excerpts from any articles you recently added with links to the full text. If you offer podcasts, you can include information about upcoming information you will be featuring, etc.

You can also choose to have a tips list or ecourse. People love numbers and are eager to sign up for a tips list, such as “15 ways to get organized today” or “50 ways to work from home”, etc. These tips can be small emails that are delivered daily to your mailing list. An ecourse is a great way to promote your information products. You can include a tiny bit of information and deliver a daily or weekly lesson to your mailing list.

The best way to manage a mailing list is through an autoresponder service. When you sign up for such a service, you can create a list and load email messages into it. When someone signs up for your list, they will automatically start to receive the messages you have already written. Each person will receive message 1, and the autoresponder will continue to send the messages in the order you selected.

While the main purpose of having a mailing list is to promote products, your visitors will be eager to sign up for them if you provide helpful information. With your mailing lists, you will want to include a “p.s” after the body of the message.

These will grab your readers’ attention. You can use this space to include your affiliate links for other products you are promoting. Your mailing list will allow you to cross promote your products and services and turn “fence sitters” into customers.

Which Is Better — Big Or Mini?

A hot topic among Internet marketers is the debate over mini sites versus big sites. A mini site is a small website consisting of two to five pages which is devoted to one subject. These are also called niche sites. A big site is a website that has hundreds or thousands of pages devoted to several subjects on a given topic.

When you create a mini site, your goal is for the visitor to take action. You don’t have to put up any fancy graphics or outgoing links. You want your visitor to stay focused on your message.

When you have a large website, you can take the time to add banners, outgoing links, and even flash plug-ins. You can have various sections that focus on different subjects, all relating to the same topic.

Some people may say that a mini site will increase your sales. Your visitors won’t be distracted by other things and they won’t click away as easily. Plus, you don’t have to worry about technical problems as much. If you have one large site, and it crashes, your business stops. On the other hand, if you have several mini sites, you don’t have to worry about your business completely stopping. Your other sites can still function and you can continue to earn money while your troubled site gets repaired.

Other people think that mini sites may repel some of your business. If your business consists of too many niches, you may lose out on repeat business from the same customers. For instance, if you have a mini site devoted to poodle shampoo, you will find some customers willing to buy information products on that subject.

However, if you had a larger site devoted to a larger subject, and poodle shampoo was just one of the topics, you could offer your customers complementary products. As you know, once someone is your customer, it will be easier to sell them other items.

There are benefits and pitfalls when it comes to organizing these two types of sites as well. With a mini site, there is not much content. You do not have to worry about subfolders and subdomains. However, maintaining 100 small sites can certainly take up a large chunk of time.

When you have a large site, you will have to worry about subfolders. But if you organize your site well in the beginning, finding content and links shouldn’t be too much of a problem.

When you decide between a large site and several mini sites, there are pros and cons for both ways. The choice really comes down to the way you want to run your business, and which you feel would be the better choice for you.

Are you ready to "flood-proof" your finances and life?

by Jomar Hilario

The past few days have all given us lessons on life and it's fragility - and being prepared for things we don't expect.

Let me be frank with you that even though I did wade through knee deep water - with a current- last week - to get home - I didn't see it very much as traumatic as others who have only experienced it for the first time.

I even did this in the early 90s- before the age of cellphones - just to get to a telephone booth - because the office called me up to fix some computer related thing.  Talk about dedication.  It also helped that I used to live in very flood -friendly neighborhoods like San Andres Bukid, Boni (City Hall area)  and San Antonio Village in Makati. Funny thing - I would always live in the house that fronted the deepest part of the flood waters.

So I'm used to -water being in the house - and with every piece of furniture being metal and there are no pieces of paper in the ground floor. My housemates would text with the message "don 't go home anymore" and we all know what this meant - sleep elsewhere.

Anyway, a friend of mine mentioned that because of this event, he needed to "storm proof" his business. I do agree. Again, it was a cab driver who told me that he heard that a bunch of new SUVs were floating in the Marikina River - from SM Marikina. I can only be sorry for the person who runs that business - and for all who had physical businesses only and no "backup".

You see, the internet can be your business - or source of income. It can be your main source or a backup or a secondary source that gives you the same income you're getting now from your job or business or even more.

Nobody asked me, but I'm answering it anyway -- how has the storm affected my online business? If anything, perhaps positively! It made people aware that home, belongings and stores in the physical world (also called "meatspace") can easily be wiped out - with no easy to make backups - but internet businesses (called "cyberspace") can ALSO easily be wiped out - but since backups are easy to create --it can only spell a few hours of delay (if any) and you're back in business again.  Income is coming into your pockets - again.

But what is needed?

Simple - that you set it up - set up websites that sell or blogs that earn --and you can enjoy the so-called "internet income". You can relocate anywhere on the planet. Yes, that's no joke - because this sort of business allows you to move around - literally.

For example, today I'm in Malolos, Bulacan - and will be here for more than a month - yet I'm still earning very well from the Internet (and exploring this province at the same time!).

So how can you start?

You can read everything you can about online business or simply get the easy to understand step by step from me. So are you ready to "flood-proof" your finances and life? CLICK HERE NOW

Offer Your Readers A Choice

Internet marketers have been living by the motto “content is king” for some time now. There is good reason for that, as content is what draws search engines to your site and send you traffic. Plus, by providing quality content, your visitors will be more likely to come back to your site when they want to learn about the subject you specialize in.

The first thing that comes to your mind when you hear the word “content” is probably print content. There is a new kid on the internet marketing block, and his name is ‘audio’. By providing both print and audio content, you’ll have the potential to reach new customers and take your website to a new level.

Providing content in both print and audio form will add variety and stimulation to your website. When people are surfing the web, they may get lost in a maze of website that seem to blend together. By adding audio to your website, in the form of a welcome greeting or background music, you are helping your website to stand out. Adding audio to your blog posts, can stimulate your readers’ senses in a whole new way. This can also increase the amount of time people spend on your website and turn them into repeat visitors.

There is no pleasing everyone, and you can’t be everything to everyone. However, adding a mix of audio and print content can help bridge the gap between the differences in people’s preferences and learning styles.

Some people enjoy reading and use their “reading time” to relax and unwind. They may sit at their desk in front of their computer or perhaps they print out the pages they want to read and curl up on the couch with them. They may even grab their laptop and head to a local café where they enjoy a cup of coffee while they surf the web.

On the other hand, some people would rather listen to audio while they multi-task and do chores around the house, read email, or simply download the audio to their Mp3 player and listen in the car.

Having both forms of content can come in very helpful if you provide content that teaches people things. Different people have different learning styles; some people absorb information through reading and some need to hear the information for it to make sense. By offering your readers a choice, your website will be able to reach out to more people.

By adding variety, stimulating your readers’ senses and reaching out to people with various learning styles, you may find yourself reaching a whole new customer base.

How To Make Money With Your Interviews

Audio has definitely taken the internet by storm recently, whether it is in the form of a welcome message upon entering a site, audio blogging, a podcast, or even a monthly audio newsletter. People love audio and recent advancements in technology have made it easy for people to download audio files to their Mp3 players and listen wherever they go.

If you have been conducting interviews for a written information product or articles for your website, you can take these audio files and turn them into another profit generating information product. The following are a few examples of how to do this:

Product Upgrade:

If you have created a written information product, such as an ebook or special report, and you interviewed a few experts while conducting research for this product, offer the audio files of these interviews as an upgrade. If the base price for just the written product is $19.95, you could add the audio files for an upgrade price of $24.95 or $29.95 or higher, depending on how much audio you have to offer.

Product Downgrade:

On the opposite side of the above description, you can use audio files as a downgrade to an existing product. If you have a coaching program that includes written guides, audio interviews with experts, and one-on-one or group coaching, you could offer the audio interviews as a downgrade for those who can’t afford the whole package.

For example, you could price the total package at $199, but offer the audios for those that want to “self-study” for a price of $75. Those that can’t afford $199 will feel that they are getting a good bargain, and you will have turned a “non-sell” into a $75 sell.

Audio Information Product:

In addition to the product upgrade and downgrade features, you could offer audio files as entirely new information products. In addition to selling interviews with experts you recorded as research for existing information products, you could invite people who have already purchased the product onto a teleconference line for a question and answer session with you, and possibly, the other experts you interviewed when creating the product. You could record the q&a session and offer it to all future customers.

Seminar Series:

A great way to generate some traffic for your site, create buzz, and make money is to offer a seminar series. You can approach other business owners that your target market will find interesting and ask if they would like to be a part of your seminar series. Depending on how much traffic you currently have, you may be able to charge the presenters a fee to have a spot in your seminar as well.

You can opt to allow people to dial in on a teleconference line or meet in a web conference room and listen to the live seminar for free, and then charge a fee for access to the recordings of the seminars. Alternatively, you can charge a fee upfront and only give paying customers access to the live seminars.

There are many ways to earn money with your interviews. Your readers will love to hear your voice, as well as the voices of other experts. Recording and selling the audio files of interviews can bring a whole new stream of income to your site.

Why are Too FEW and Too MANY Affiliate Programs a Problem?

by Stone Evans, The HomeBiz Guy

The fact is that there are many people who are a member of TOO FEW affiliate programs and there are many people who are a member of TOO MANY. There are only a handful of people who have found the magic "sweet spot" right in the middle and those are the happy people who are making the most money.

Why is TOO FEW affiliate programs a problem?

Joining too few affiliate programs is a problem for 3 MAJOR reasons:

#1. The bottom line is that you absolutely, positively MUST start earning multiple streams of income.

One income stream, even 2 is not enough in today's world. If you are only relying on you job as your main source of income right now, you're a sitting duck for a financial disaster. If you lose your job or your health, God forbid, you could be in big trouble financially. Most people are just one paycheck away from bankruptcy.

Affiliate marketing is the same way. If you're relying on just one or two affiliate programs to pull in the bulk of your income, you're extremely vulnerable. Even if you've built up a big residual income in a program, if it goes out of business so do you. I had one program a couple of years ago that I was earning $5,000+ per month from and then circumstances happened with the program where they had to cancel all recurring billings... I lost $60,000+ a year in income in the blink of an eye! You absolutely, positively MUST develop multiple streams of income to be secure in today's world.

#2. Joining only one or two affiliate program does not give you enough experience to compare strengths and weaknesses of different programs.

It leaves you being unaware of different possibilities and that's very dangerous to your fiscal health.

#3. There's is a saying that "If all you have is a hammer, every problem looks like a nail."

If you only have one or two different products or programs to promote, that's not enough to solve the many different problems people will be coming to you for. You need to have a variety of tools in your affiliate toolbox so you can pull out the right one at the right time for the right person. If you don't, you'll be leaving money on the table. It's that simple.

Why is TOO MANY affiliate programs a problem?

Joining too many affiliate programs is a problem for 2 MAJOR reasons:

#1. You'll get way too distracted. Focus has great power and if you have too many things to think about at one time, you'll get confused.

When you're confused, you don't take action. When you don't action, you don't make money.

#2. People won't take you seriously.

If you're promoting everything and anything, people will sense your lack of sincerity and have no desire to do business with you. One of the big secrets to affiliate marketing success is promoting things you have some experience with and believe in.

But there a magic "sweet spot" somewhere in the middle of having enough products and programs to promote that keep you diversified and capable of solving multiple problems for people.

For example, if you get 100 people to visit your website and only have one product you're promoting and your website successfully converts 1 out of 100 visitors to a sale, then you've made 1 sale.  But if you have a couple more products on your site that are related but different, you may find that you get 3-5 people out of 100 who buy from you because they find other things that solve their problems. So just having a few different options for people can multiply your income 300% or more without any additional effort.

In my experience, 5-6 different affiliate programs in a niche is the generally the best starting point. How To Choose A Good Domain Name That Attracts Customers

The quickest way to getting eyeballs on your business these days is by establishing an online presence and central to establishing a powerful online presence is choosing a domain name that will attract the right customers.

Somehow, there hasn’t been enough emphasis placed on choosing a domain name that attracts the right customers, so allow me to expound on this subject with some tips you can put to immediate use for your next website or blog.

1. Choose A Name That Describes Your Website

Your domain name should aptly let your visitors know what your website is all about even before visiting your site. In other words, give away as much information in your domain name as possible, leaving no room for your visitors to guess what your website is selling.

For example, if your name happens to be Sue Brown and you own a hair salon called Sue’s Hair Salon, get a domain name like, www.sueshairsalon.com instead of www.suebrown.com. Seems pretty obvious, but you’ll be amazed at how many business owners use their personal names as domain names instead of choosing one that specifically describes their business.

Also, try to keep your domain name within a range of 13-15 characters, as shorter domain names tend to stick in people’s minds. It also makes it easier for them to type out your web address in their browsers without too much head scratching

2. Select A Keyword-Rich Domain Name

It’s becoming increasingly important for business owners to have their websites indexed and ranked well in search engines like Google.com, MSN.com and Yahoo.com. And it helps this cause tremendously if you have a keyword-rich domain name. The reason for this is simple: Your potential customers search using specific keyword phrases to find what they’re looking for.

If you’d done the research and used these customer-specific keyword phrases in your domain name, more than likely your website will be listed on the very first page of the search engines, outranking your competitors because you had exercised due diligence where keyword-rich domain names were concerned.

Of course, there are other SEO tactics to implement for better rankings, but getting a keyword-rich domain name is the first step towards ensuring your website will be search engine friendly. Avoid using any weird characters like apostrophes and even hyphens in your domain name as this will eventually affect rankings.

3. Must A Domain Name End With .com?

In a word, “No.” You could very well use .net, .biz, .org or .info as an extension and no one would complain, except that you’ll likely regret that decision in the long run. Here’s why. Websites ending with any other extension besides a .com usually requires extra marketing efforts to establish credibility because everybody assumes a .com extension to be the standard in domain name branding.

Another reason is when emailing, customers automatically assume every company ends with a .com extension and this can be devastating to your business if your customers’ emails keep ending up in your competitors’ database.

Unless you’re intentionally targeting to brand your business as, let’s say, a nonprofit organization, in which case the .org extension is highly recommended, then sticking to the instantly recognizable .com extension is the best way to go.

So, don’t rush headlong into purchasing a domain name without first taking the time to research keyword phrases that would be a perfect match for your product or service. You can perform this much needed research at websites such as www.wordtracker.com, www.keywordtumbler.com and www.goodkeywords.com.

It requires some effort, but acquiring the keyword phrases that are used by prospects and incorporating them into your domain name will pay off handsomely for years to come.

How Video Can Enhance A Website

Adding video to a website can greatly enhance its appeal. It allows communication with customers in a new and fresh way. The popularity of video on the web is growing rapidly. YouTube.com, one of the most popular video sites on the web was bought by Google for 1.65 billion dollars. Google would not put that much into something that was a fly by night venture.

According to imdediaconnection.com, the number of people who view videos online has grown from 55 million in 2003 to about 140 million in 2007. Many people falsely assume that most of these viewers are young and that they are watching videos of their own content that they have made and posted to the web. News is actually the most viewed format and viewers are between the ages of 25 to 44 years old.

When you pair those findings with the fact that broadband Internet is no longer a luxury item, and the fact that the latest generation of iPods are now video enabled, it opens up a whole new way to market a business.

As a website owner, you don’t even have to worry about creating videos, as there are thousands of videos you can place on a website for free. Try searching sites such as YouTube, Google Video, MSN Video and Yahoo! Video.

Like everything else on the Internet, publishing content is only part of the process. Make sure people view the content by marketing it. Right now, using online video for business is not as popular as e-mail marketing or websites, however, it's growing. Keep an eye on this market and start testing its viability for your business now. You'll be ahead of the curve and ahead of competition in engaging customers.

Creating a video can easily be accomplished with products such as Camtasia. Of course, if you are not technically gifted, you could outsource this task to a virtual assistant.

The following are a few ideas for video use on a website:

• Highlight products and services

• Offer helpful tutorials on subjects visitors want to learn more about

• Showing people how to use a product

• Create an “about us” video where viewers can see and hear the passion for a business

• Build a mailing list by offering videos; simply create a form to collect visitors’ names and email addresses.

Use an autoresponder to automatically send them the link to the videos once they fill out the form

These are just a few of the ways that video can enhance the appeal of a website. You may want to give video a try by posting some free videos to your site. If your website visitors seem to enjoy them, you may want to consider creating a custom video or hiring someone to create one for you.

How To Market Your Product With SQUIDOO

Squidoo is a website where a network of users can create pages, known as lenses, on various topics that they have knowledge in, or at least have some interest in. Ads are displayed on these lenses, and the users who create them can receive commissions when those ads are clicked upon by their lenses’ visitors. However, you can earn even more by using Squidoo to market your products.

Marketing your own products with Squidoo is very easy. When editing your page, use the “write” feature to add some simple HTML. If you sell information products, you can offer a free ebook or special report and a link for the sign-up form for your newsletter. Once they are your subscriber, you can continue to market your products to them.

You can also use the “write module” to post articles and links to your information product’s landing pages. Providing the content will help you get indexed in the search engines and your visitors will appreciate the fact that they can learn something from your site.

Since each lens should have its own unique topic, you can create a lens for each of the topics you would like to establish yourself as an expert in. You can then create a lens roll and link your lenses together. This can create a stream of traffic for you. If you have other business blogs or feature a podcast on the subject, add that information to your lens as well. If you have created a physical product, you can add pictures of it to your Squidoo site.

In addition to adding content, links, and pictures to your lens, you can join Squidoo groups. If someone is searching for information on a topic, they may choose to find a group on the subject in order to find lenses on that subject. This will also allow you to interact with other people interested in the subject of your lens. This is a ready-made market of people interested in your products.

Just like your website, you will want to keep your lens fresh by adding new content each week. This will encourage your visitors to return again and again. You may want to pick one day each week to add something such as an article or a link to something your visitors may find useful. You can even add links to viral reports and other things that you are offering on your own website.

By using these techniques you can add targeted traffic to your site, increase the size of your mailing list, and add to the number of your customers. Plus, Squidoo is free. You’ll be growing your business and saving money that you may otherwise be spending on pay-per-click programs.

What Makes SQUIDOO Popular?

In late 2005, a website named “Squidoo” launched. Squidoo is a way for people to share information with others. Users can create a page, also known as a lens. Each lens has its own topic. A user can create a lens about gardening and another lens about cooking, or whatever topic they choose.

They can fill their lens with their opinions, recommendations, and other information. Other people can view these lenses in order to learn about a subject. Ads are featured on these pages, and if someone clicks an ad on the page, the creator of that page, also known as the lensmaster, will earn a commission.

Users who create lenses are called lensmasters. Squidoo offers lensmasters various tools to create unique and informative lenses. For example, you can add modules that allow you to enter your own text, create a list of other sites you recommend on your lens topic, add your own RSS feed, share photos, and even integrate your lens with services such as Google Blog Search or merchants such as Starbucks and earn more commissions.

As far as commissions go, Squidoo offers 5% of their commission to charity, the site keeps 45%, and the lensmaster receives 50%. Lensmasters can choose to donate their portion to charity as well. The site claims that half of their lensmasters are doing just that. Squidoo has partnered with various non-profits, such as the American Heart Association, March of Dimes, Children’s Defense Fund, and more. Squidoo allows other non-profits the chance to be listed as well.

Squidoo allows users to create and join groups on all types of topics. This is a way for you to meet others and promote your lenses. Another feature of the site is “SquidU”. This is where you can go to study up on Squidoo, learn how to make more money, and chat with others via forums.

Squidoo offers a lot of value to those with Internet-based businesses. You can create multiple lenses on various topics that match your website. You can also use Squidoo to “test the waters” on niche topics and see if they are profitable before you take the time to build a whole website around them.

For example, if you have a website with content on parenting, you can create a lens with the same type of content in order to promote your website. Or, you can create a lens on a niche topic within parenting or on a totally different topic just to get a feel for the number of views it receives, the amount of commissions you earn, etc.

You can also use Squidoo to conduct research and get opinions from others. This is especially helpful if you find yourself getting confused at the staggering number of websites you receive in search engine listings. Of course, using Squidoo means you are receiving others’ opinions and recommendations; some of the information you receive may be skewed. Therefore, if you are researching something of a serious nature, you should use reference sites.
